Our Service

We are proud to say that every brother of Sigma Beta Rho, including every Alumnus, is involved in serving our community. Some of the community service organizations and events to which the brothers of Sigma Beta Rho have volunteered their time and resources include the following:

Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program

The honorable brothers of Sigma Beta Rho at the University of Houston have made long-term commitments to mentor children, one-on-one, at the Ripley House Charter School. Brothers dedicate one hour per week to mentor these children and they have bonded with their little and serve as role models.

Ripley House Charter School

In addition to participating in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, we have also forged a partnership with the Ripley House Charter School to present opportunities to serve our community. In the Spring semester of 2009, we donated over $1,000 worth of History and Science books to the children of the Ripley House Charter School.

Be The Change (former National Gandhi Day of Service)

The brothers of our chapter are a part of this great day of service that brings all people together to make the change that they wish to see. We have brothers who have been on the national Be the Change board as Marketing Directors and Flagship-city Coordinators.
